Research from Victoria University in Australia shows that putting on exercise gear (that is, clothing specifically intended and designed for exercise) can actually encourage you to work out. Possible reasons for this so-called “exercise facilitation” effect include functional design, size, fit, color, and price.
As for the type of exercise clothing which will help you get your heart rate up the most, a lot of that comes down to personal preference (as well as the more tech-y aspects of moisture wicking, compression garments, and smart clothing, aka “e-textiles”). That said, one of the growing trends in the athletic attire aka “athleisure” industry recently is the jumpsuit or onesie.
